According to New Albany Township Fire Chief Tim Franklin, firefighters were called to the 3100 block of Koehler Place Drive around 5:30 a.m. on reports of a house fire.
Units arrived on scene minutes after the initial call and found a working fire with heavy flames in the attic.
Firefighters had to be evacuated as they were working due to structure collapse.
A family was inside the home at the time of the fire but was able to escape quickly, according to Franklin.
No injuries were reported and the scene was cleared around 8:20 a.m.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but officials said it appears to be from a lightning strike.
