LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Animal Services is reminding pet owners to vaccinate their furry friends.
Louisville Metro Councilmember Jennifer Chappell (D-15) joined LMAS to host a clinic on Sunday at Wyandotte Park as a way to offer affordable pet care.
Rabies vaccinations and pet licensing are required by law and ordinance in Jefferson County. The services including rabies vaccines, microchipping and free DAPP vaccinations were discounted on a first-come, first served basis for the first 200 animals.
"Veterinary care is so important because if you do just these regular wellness checks and regular vaccines you are less likely to have those absolute emergencies and not know what to do or where to go when you have them," said Ashley Book, LMAS director.
The vaccination clinic was the fourth one held this year. Another clinic is scheduled in Plainview on Oct. 21.
