LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Thousands of people gathered Sunday at Louisville Slugger Field all decked out in pink for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk.
This is the 26th year for the event, put on by the American Cancer Society. Sherry Mulkins, senior development manager for the ACS, said the walk is a celebration of courage and hope while also raising money and awareness.
"All the money that comes here today goes toward cancer research," Mulkins said. "We want to end breast cancer for everyone as we know it. ... Having this much support is just amazing for all of our survivors and our thrivers."
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. For more stories of breast cancer's impact on Louisville-area residents, click here.
