Louisville's Sun Valley Park vandalized after four-wheelers rip through golf course overnight

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Sun Valley Park was vandalized when people on four-wheelers drove through the golf course and swastika symbols drawn found in the parking lot.

The damage happened sometime overnight into Monday morning at the park, according to Louisville Metro Councilwoman Crystal Bast.

In a Facebook post, Bast said the fairway on the first hole was "completely torn up," while No. 4 also sustained damage.

Photos shared by Bast show areas of the golf course torn up after the four-wheelers drove across the property.

Bast said the vandalism came after recent investments were made to improve the golf course and other park facilities.

"Instead of spending those dollars on new improvements, we're now forced to spend taxpayer money repairing damage that never should have happened," she said.

She also said someone used spray foam to create swastika symbols in the park’s parking lot.

"There is absolutely no place for that in our community," Bast said.

LMPD believes local teens may be responsible.

Golfers at the course says teens driving around on four-wheelers is common in the area.

"They are going to run out here, they are going to do whatever they want to do and disrespect things that don't belong to them," said Jerryal Ingram who golfs at the course every week. "It's sad."

Metro Parks says the damage to repair the vandalism is at least $5,000.
