LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A motorcyclist was found dead Thursday morning four hours after he lost control and crashed on Interstate 264 near Louisville's airport.

Sometime Thursday morning, Louisville Airport Police saw an unoccupied motorcycle in a ditch near the Watterson Expressway's eastbound ramp to Crittenden Drive. Officers looked for a driver of the motorcycle but couldn't find anyone, so they had the motorcycle impounded for safe keeping.

Shortly thereafter, police looked at surveillance video from nearby airport cameras, which showed a motorcyclist lose control coming around the curved ramp around 6 a.m. He lost control, flew off the motorcycle and landed in the grass nearby, police said.

Louisville Metro Police spokesperson Aaron Ellis said officers were then called to the area around 10:30 a.m. to find the man's body "obviously deceased."

No other vehicles were involved, Ellis said.
