LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A portion of River Road is scheduled to close Monday as crews work to replace a water line.

River Road will be closed to traffic from Zorn Avenue to Blankenbaker Lane. It will stay open for access to homes and businesses. It's part of a two-year construction project that will cause disruptions along River Roads.

Louisville Water said the water line has reached the end of its life. Customers won't lose water service during construction.

Work will start at the intersection of Zorn Avenue and River Road and gradually progress eastward to the Louisville Water Prospect Plant.

According to a news release, the water lines carry the residuals from the Crescent Hill Water Treatment Plant to lagoons at the B. E. Payne Water Treatment Plant in Prospect.
