LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- 2009 Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra is in serious condition as she recovers from surgery for complications from the birth of her filly.
Stonestreet Farm says the surgery was to repair an area of bruising in her small colon. Doctors say a full prognosis for Rachel Alexandra can't be determined right now.
Rachel Alexandra's filly by Bernardini was born Tuesday weighing 140 pounds, and is in good health.
