LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- All eyes are on California Chrome ahead of this weekend's Belmont Stakes.
The horse is being watched by round-the-clock security. Inquiries from fans and media around the world have been pouring in day and night. The hype is so rampant that the New York track is making changes, canceling tailgating because of the overwhelming need for parking. New trackside tents and bleachers must also be built.
Federal, state and local law enforcement are already in place.
"We are going to have substantial security so everyone will be safe," said Christopher Kay, President and CEO of the New York Racing Authority.
California Chrome is the twelfth horse to try for the Triple Crown since Affirmed won all three races in 1978.
