LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A local mom went into labor and the baby girl had other plans before they could make it to the hospital.

Shelby County EMS posted pictures on social media about how they helped a mom deliver her baby earlier this month.

The mom went into labor and her water broke on the way to the hospital. EMS was called but the baby was on the way.

Captain Elaine Cecil and EMT Nichole Griffin helped deliver the baby.

They then got them safely to the hospital. The crew received the "Stork Award" for their actions.

Both mom and baby are doing well.
