SHELBYVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Shelby County Sheriff's Office said a suspicious briefcase was discovered Saturday afternoon outside of the Shelbyville Walmart.
According to investigators, an employee at the store on Taylorsville Road found the briefcase around 2 p.m. near the Home and Garden section. The hard-shelled briefcase appeared to be "altered" and its appearance "raised concern".
The Kentucky State Police Bomb Squad took an X-ray and was "alarmed" by what they saw, which included electronics and wires.
The Sheriff's Office said there was no bomb inside, but the contents were "alarming in nature" and the briefcase was disposed of safely.
It's unclear if the briefcase was deliberately left outside Walmart.
The store was evacuated for about two hours, as the building was searched. Nothing else was found.
