LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Some Clark County homes and businesses will be getting access to faster internet soon.
Spectrum announced Monday it is expanding its fiber broadband network to previously unserved or underserved areas of Clark County, Indiana.
According to the release, the expansion will bring internet speeds up to one gigabit per second to more than 2,900 homes and businesses. The project includes Spectrum’s internet, mobile, television and voice services.
The expansion is part of Spectrum's multiyear rural construction initiative — which includes more than $7 billion in private investment — and will add more than 100,000 miles of fiber network nationwide, reaching over 1.7 million locations.
"This connectivity bolsters businesses, supports families and ultimately boosts economic activity for rural communities in my district," said Indiana State Sen. Chris Garten. "I encourage Spectrum and all providers to continue to expand access to underserved and unserved Hoosiers in all rural areas."Â
The project is expected to be finished in late 2027 or early 2028 nationwide.
Residents who want know when their home or business may be able to receive Spectrum's services can learn more on the project's website.
