LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The famous Clarksville chicken, dubbed by some residents the "Baron of Clarksville" or the "Clarksville Mayor," now has a new home and a name.

The stray chicken has captured the attention of the community and stirred quite the conversation as it roams the streets of south Clarksville.

Wednesday, the town said the chicken jumped into someone's pickup truck and laid an egg. That driver dropped the chicken off at the Public Work's Office, which also houses Animal Control.

Public Works staff decided to adopt the chicken and give it a proper name — Towney.

They plan to build a coop for Towney on-site. It's not the first time they've taken in a stray. A cat named Meow already lives in the Public Works Office.
