LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Hundreds of people are set to lose their jobs in Elizabethtown.
The Akebono Brake plant will fully shut down, leaving about 450 workers out of a job.
The Japanese company said the closure is a result of a decline in business in the United States.
Akebono, located at 300 Ring Road in Elizabethtown, also shut down plants in Tennessee and South Carolina in 2020 after the company announced it was moving to a "one factory system" at the same time it first announced the Elizabethtown closure in 2023.
The Elizabethtown plant will begin letting people go in December, and the layoffs will continue through Dec. 31, 2026.
