LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Louisville pastor pleaded guilty Thursday to spending thousands of dollars on credit cards stolen from multiple elderly women.
Virgil Mozee, a pastor at New Christian Church of Jesus Christ, is charged with three counts of fraudulent use of a credit card and three counts of theft by unlawful taking. He faces up to five years in prison.
According to court documents, Mozee worked with another man, Nathaniel Porter III, to steal wallets from at least three women, all in their 70s and 80s, while they shopped at Louisville grocery stores in September 2025.
Prosecutors said the men targeted women shopping at Kroger and Meijer stores, then headed to nearby Walgreens locations where they used — or tried to use — the stolen credit cards within about an hour of the theft. One of the women later discovered 10 unauthorized transactions totaling $3,790.05.
Surveillance video from the stores helped investigators identify Mozee and Porter, according to court records. The pair were arrested October of last year.
Mozee is scheduled to be sentenced at 9 a.m. Sept. 28. Porter pleaded not guilty and is expected to take his case to trial.
