LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A suspect died after an attempted murder-suicide Saturday night in Charlestown, Indiana.

According to the Charlestown Police Department, officers responded to the 100 block of Broadmoor Avenue at 10:12 p.m. to a report of a shooting.

Police said they found one victim inside the residence with multiple gunshot wounds. Other people inside the home were able to escape.

The victim was taken to a local hospital. The victim’s condition is unknown at this time.

Police said the suspect remained inside the residence and was found by officers with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The suspect was taken to a hospital, where they later died Sunday morning.

"Out of respect for the victims, their families, and everyone affected by this tragic incident, we ask the public to allow them the privacy and space they need as they navigate this extremely difficult time," Charlestown Police Chief Eric Kruse said in a news release. "Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved in this situation."
