LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The weekend is upon us, and there are plenty of things to do and see across Kentuckiana.
Here are a selection of events, markets, concerts and more happening the weekend of Friday, July 24 to Sunday, July 26.
56th Annual Dainty Festival
The 56th Annual Dainty Festival kicks off this weekend, leading up to the annual World Championship Dainty Contest on Monday.
The Dainty Contest is held on the last Monday of July each year on George Hauck Way, near Goss Avenue. This year, the German game that dates back centuries will return to the streets of Louisville's Schnitzelburg neighborhood Monday, July 27, at 4 p.m.
Contestants, who must be 45 years or older, use a broomstick to try to hit a five-inch peg called a dainty as far as possible.
The Dainty Contest started in 1971 when George Hauck, Charlie Vettiner and others gathered at the corner of Goss and Hoertz Avenue to play the German street game.
A weekend of festivities leads up to the big day. The Dainty Pre-Game Carnival and FUNdraiser is scheduled for Saturday, July 25, with the 6th Annual Dainty Pre-Games. The block party, carnival and fundraiser for the Dainty starts at 4 p.m. with the Dainty Parade through Schnitzelburg, starting at Monnik Beer Co. At 5 p.m., the Dainty Pre-Games will be held at The MerryWeather. The event consists of carnival games, a cake wheel, food, drinks and merch booths. There will also be an Ohio Valley Wrestling show from 6-8 p.m., the Pickle Juice Chugging Competition at 7 p.m., and the famous Bologna Sandwich Eating Competition at 7:15 p.m.
The Annual World Championship Dainty Contest will be held starting at 4 p.m. Monday, July 27, at the corner of George Hauck Way and Goss Avenue. Organizers say the game runs until "we run out of bologna or players."

Flyover Film Festival
Film industry professionals will be in Louisville this weekend for the annual Flyover Film Festival.
The 16th annual festival opened Wednesday, July 22 and runs through Sunday, July 26, with an additional weekend of screenings Friday, July 31 and Saturday, Aug. 1. It consists of events such as film screenings, Q&A panels with filmmakers and parties highlighting "indie gems, documentaries, and short films with strong local and regional ties."
Screenings will be held across the city. This weekend, they will be held at the Speed Cinema at the Speed Art Museum.
Films include "Cornbread Mafia," "Union County," "Who Moves America," "Fork in the Road," "Pinball," "The Revisionist" and several short films.
Two films will be shown Friday, July 31, at the Brown Theatre in downtown Louisville. Those include "The Man with the Big Hat" and "The Red Mask."
The festival concludes Saturday, Aug. 1, with several screenings at the Kentucky Science Center. Films include "Drawn to Justice," "499 Days" and "Halcyon Daze."
Flyover is produced by the Louisville Film Society.
"It's a tremendous opportunity for movie fans in our community to discover new work and hear directly from the creators about how their films came together," said Louisville Film Society Chair Stu Pollard, in a news release.

Huber's Blackberry Festival
Joe Huber's Family Farm & Restaurant is hosting its Blackberry Festival this weekend.
It's set for 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, July 25, at the farm on Engle Road in Starlight, Indiana.
The festival consists of all things blackberry — U-Pick blackberries, shortcake, daiquiris, sangria, vodka lemonade, wine, cobbler, creme pies, jam on fried biscuits and lemonade shakeups.
Activities include the farm's petting zoo, pony rides, vendor booths, live music by Dean Heckel from 12-4 p.m., a Pickleball competition, an outdoor bar, a farm market and gift shop, henna tattoos, kids activities, cow train rides, tractor-trailer rides, face painting, free fishing, indoor corn play pit, playground school bus, inflatable carnival games and obstacle course, a buffet and more.
Huber's is located at 2421 Engle Road, Starlight, Indiana.

Louisville Street Food Festival
Louisville's 4th Annual Street Food Festival returns to Fourth Street Live! this weekend.
It's set for Saturday and Sunday, July 25-26.
The street food festival takes over an entire block in downtown Louisville for a weekend of more than 20 of the area's best food trucks and restaurants providing food items for $5 or less.
Other activities include live music, vendors, axe throwing, mechanical bull riding, challenges, cooking demos and more.
Guests will have their first drink for free, with full bars and a mocktail bar set up during the festival.
There will also be a kids zone with arts and crafts, face painting and bounce activities. Kids 10 and under get in free.
Tickets are on sale now. General admission gets you into the festival and your first drink is included. VIP tickets offer early access, more drink vouchers, access to a chocolate fountain, food vouchers and more.

Wild Lights at the Louisville Zoo
This is the last weekend to catch the fan-favorite light show at the Louisville Zoo this weekend.
Wild Lights transforms the zoo into a glowing nighttime experience starting Friday, May 15 through July 26, featuring dozens of large-scale lantern displays and interactive exhibits.
Guests will walk a 1.4-mile path lined with more than 50 themed lantern displays, with interactive elements bringing some to life.
The festival will also highlight Chinese lantern-making, a centuries-old art form. Artisans from Zigong, China, will be on site demonstrating their work and offering handcrafted items for purchase.
Live performances, including acrobatics and traditional mask-changing acts, will take place throughout the event.
Food, drinks and themed merchandise will be available across the zoo.
Wild Lights will run 7-10 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays, rain or shine. The last tickets will be sold at 9:30 p.m.
