LOUISVILLE, KyĀ -- Walmart and the Walmart Foundation say in the past fiscal year, they have donated more than $21.9 million to Kentucky non-profit organizations and programs.

The announcement was issued Wednesday in a news release.

Officials say the organizations and programs have focused on several issues including nutrition, workforce development and disaster preparedness.

The programs and organizations receiving funding includeĀ Junior Achievement’s ā€˜Achieve Kentucky’ initiative, Neighborhood House of Louisville andĀ Apple Patch Community, Inc.

The donations made in Kentucky were part of a total amount ofĀ $1.42 billion given by Walmart and the Walmart Foundation throughout North America during the past fiscal year.
