LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A woman died at the hospital Wednesday after suffering a medical emergency on the exit ramp from Interstate 265 to Preston Highway and crashing into a car in the intersection.
Louisville Metro Police spokesperson Aaron Ellis said the woman entered the intersection at Preston Highway around 9:20 a.m., hit several road signs, crossed the median and hit another car driven by a man stopped at a red light.
The woman was taken to UofL Hospital with what were, at the time, described as critical and life-threatening injuries, Ellis said. She died several hours later.
The Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified her Friday as 81-year-old Sandra Cischke.
The man in the stopped car was transported to UofL Health-South Hospital in Bullitt County with "minor" injuries.
The LMPD Traffic Unit is investigating the crash.
