There's a lot changing along Bardstown Road. And some of that change hurts.

The Bristol Bar & Grill announced that it is closing its doors in the Highlands after nearly 50 years. Mark's Feed Store, Comedy Caravan and Baxter Avenue Theaters are closed or closing, too.

Local businesses built Bardstown Road. And if we want it to stay vibrant, we have to do our part to keep it alive. We have to go there, buy our stuff there and eat there. Convenience may be easy, but keeping a community takes effort.

Here's what our viewers had to say:

"Mr. Lamb, you are right. We need common sense business and not a bunch of bars where are coming and causing a lot of disturbance."

"We spent many, many family times in the Highlands. I never felt safe for a long time going back. Maybe we can change that part of it."

"Part of that problem is because there's so much crime in the city. But I do believe that we do need to support small businesses and small shops."

"Things are not the same. It's not unique Highlands anymore. I just don't like it."

"You know, there's too much greed at the top and nobody wants to share. But they want everyone to work, which we should. It's just that we don't get paid enough to actually be able to afford what we used to 10 years ago."
