It’s time for some Darts and Laurels, but I don’t have any Darts today at all.
Let’s start with Laurels to the first responders to the UPS jet crash, always willing to rush toward danger to minimize harm. A laurel to MSD for all the oil they’re cleaning up in nearby waterways. That is a filthy job I’m sure nobody wants to do, but MSD workers are in the middle of it and I’m appreciative.
A laurel to the Red Cross, who is always there to help in any emergency. Also, a thankful shout out to The Lord’s Kitchen, Hooters, The Salvation Army and others who are feeding NTSB officials, FBI investigators, police, and first responders. On behalf of a shaken community, thank you for all you’ve done and continue to do.
On a happier note, a Laurel to the U of L men’s basketball team who beat UK on Tuesday night. No matter who you wanted to win, both teams have to win occasionally to make it a great rivalry, and this rivalry is alive and well! It was nice to see the restaurants full and the Yum! Center rocking from start to finish. That was not only fun for our community, but U of L’s victory came at a good time for a city that really needed a boost. And even though Kentucky came up a little short this time, they looked good too. My guess is both teams are going to play well into March.
I’m Bill Lamb, and that’s my Point of View.
