Hiring the wrong coach can happen anytime. A coach being not quite good enough, having bad luck or bad chemistry can happen. You can bounce back from relatively small mistakes.

But rushing to ink a mediocre coach to a decade-long, ironclad deal was Mitch Barnhart's colossal error, and those are very difficult to overcome.

The Board of Trustees need to scrutinize Barnhart's judgment and may have to admit it's time for Barnhart to be the hero in some other university's story.

Here's what our viewers had to say:

"I agree 100%. I'd like to know the lawyer that wrote that contract up. They're supposed to be teaching education at Kentucky."

"They're firing the wrong person. They need to fire Barnhart. Anybody who'd put a contract out with this guy with his record the way it is is nuts."

"Yes, sir. I agree with you 100%. Mitch Barnhart should be fired. We're the ones who's going to pay the price with the tickets going up again."

"Mr. Lamb, I cannot agree with you more. It's time for Barnhart to go. I've talked to UK fans, and they all agreed."

"We don't think a coach should make $38 million just to be fired. They get too much money."

"Mr. Lamb, I think you're exactly right. Barnhart needs to go also."
