The Trump administration is ordering a dismantling of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programs in the federal government. But if the goal of DEI is equity and inclusion, why are so many conservatives opposed to it?
There are several reasons, including conservatives prioritizing individualism over group identity, believing that speech codes and mandatory diversity training enforces ideological conformity, affirmative action hiring is seen as government interference in private enterprise, and conservative’s concerns about reverse discrimination.
I’m not sure why it has to be an “all or nothing” approach. Like most things in life, moderation is probably the best approach.
