Providence Mill Dam

While legislation addressing the matter is not specific to southern Indiana, two dams in Floyd County—the Blackiston Mill Dam and the Providence Mill Dam—have drawn significant attention.

Since then, WDRB has repeatedly asked the mayor’s office for cost information and documentation related to the project.

The DNR filed the lawsuit over "emergency maintenance" at the dam ordered by Mayor Jeff Gahan in August 2024 following the death of 14-year-old Andre "AJ" Edwards, who drowned on Memorial Day.
