In March, investigators began digging behind a home in the 100 block of Ottawa Avenue in Louisville's Beechmont neighborhood. The property is connected to the 2017 disappearance of Austin Gamez and the murder of Teresa McCoy.
For the second day now, investigators are digging into a backyard in Louisville.
Police said they received several leads that led them to the property on Ottawa Avenue, in the Beechmont neighborhood, as part of their investigation into the 2017 murder of Teressa McCoy and disappearance of Austin Gamez.
Larry Sauer was arrested in December for the deaths of Austin Gamez and Teressa McCoy, who was found dead in an SUV at a business in 2017.
Teressa McCoy and Austin Gamez were murdered just over two years ago.
Angela Jernigan and Amy Gamez do have newly-found hope for eventual closure after a recent development in the case.
Teressa McCoy's body was found in an SUV on Strawberry Lane. Gamez's body was never found.
