Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg announced Thursday that he nominated Inspector General Ed Harness, the first person to hold that position in the city's history, to a second term.

Ed Harness, who was appointed as the city's first inspector general in 2021, previously said he was told his chances of being reappointed were "slim."

Hiring an independent police monitor is part of the city's plan for police reform after a federally-mandated agreement was dismissed.
