Indiana’s Republican attorney general on Wednesday asked the state medical licensing board to discipline an Indianapolis doctor who has spoken publicly about providing an abortion to a 10-year-old rape victim who traveled from Ohio after its more-restrictive abortion law took effect.
Dr. Caitlin Bernard; her medical partner, Dr. Amy Caldwell; and their patients sued Republican Attorney General Todd Rokita on Nov. 3 to try to stop him from accessing the records.
A spokesperson for Rokita said Bernard's claim is “baseless” and attempts to “distract from the important work of the office.”
She went to Indiana after Ohio banned the procedure at six weeks when a heartbeat is detected.
