An artisanal gold mining site has collapsed in the western part of Central African Republic, killing at least 30 miners. The collapse occurred Tuesday morning in the Abba region of the Nana-Mambere prefecture. Authorities and residents report that rescuers are searching for additional miners believed to be trapped. Florian Gaguende, one of the surviving miners, said the chances of finding them alive are getting slimmer. The sub-prefecture's deputy mayor, Souleymane Bi, said rescuers and residents managed to pull 30 bodies from under the pit over several hours. Those injured are receiving treatment.
