An international trade war over steel and aluminum has soured Kentucky’s bourbon industry for the last two years, but distilleries are hopeful after negotiations resulted in a temporary relief.

In a statement, Century Aluminum placed the blame on “Chinese overcapacity and the improper export of heavily-subsidized Chinese aluminum products have undercut an otherwise viable plant.”
