Knox was convicted and then acquitted over the murder. Knox said Thursday in an Instagram post that her comedy show “honors Meredith Kercher’s memory and calls out the violence that was done to her and to me.”

Seattle’s police chief has resigned amid criticism that the city was slow to release key information about a fatal shootout at a food festival last weekend. Mayor Katie Wilson made the announcement Thursday after hours of speculation about whether Police Chief Shon Barnes would step down. Some of his supporters say he had rebuffed Wilson’s request to resign. Wilson said she is appointing Deputy Chief Andre Sayles as interim chief. Sayles is a law enforcement veteran with more than two decades of experience. The mayor said she was grateful for Barnes’ service, and Barnes called it an honor to have served the city.

Bullets recovered from two bystanders killed during a shootout at a Seattle festival last weekend do not appear to have come from the gun that a 15-year-old arrested at the scene was firing, police said in court documents filed Wednesday. The King County prosecutor’s office filed charges of first-degree assault with a firearm enhancement as well as unlawful possession of a handgun by someone under 18. In a statement supporting the charges, police said the teen was seen firing an untraceable ghost gun into a crowd, but preliminary testing of bullets recovered from two bystanders killed showed they did not match that weapon. Shell casings found at the scene of Sunday’s shooting indicate four weapons were fired during the shootout.

The 15-year-old arrested after a shootout at a food festival near Seattle’s Space Needle over the weekend was armed with a ghost gun with an extended magazine. Police Chief Shon Barnes told a news conference Tuesday that the weapon was a 9 mm gun from Polymer80 — a now-defunct company that was once a leading manufacturer of ghost gun parts. Barnes says investigators also recovered two other weapons and 14 shell casings that had been fired by weapons of two different calibers. The shooting left three people dead, including a 19-year-old gunman, and at least four people injured, including a toddler. Authorities say they believe the violence was gang-related.
