Games such as Burning Barrel, manufactured by Pace-O-Matic, were the subject of a pricy lobbying battle during the last legislative session.

In a lawsuit filed Tuesday in Franklin Circuit Court, the companies call for a judge to block the new law. 

Last Thursday, the state House and Senate passed and Gov. Andy Beshear signed House Bill 594, which outlaws what proponents call "skill games" and critics call "gray games."

Several bills hang in the balance as Kentucky lawmakers push to get them passed before the legislative session ends. 

Operators of the machines — which can be found in bars, veterans halls and truck stops — argue they take memory, dexterity, and skill to win, and are legal.
