The Kentucky House of Representatives on Monday passed House Bill 5, which would gradually repeal the so-called barrel tax on aging bourbon barrels in the state.

The bill would cut the current tax rate to 4% in 2024, if revenue goals are met.

Beshear urged lawmakers to take bold action to get Kentucky through the pandemic and position it for the post-coronavirus world.
