JCPS plans $132M in cuts, eyes taxes and school closures to address $188M deficit.

Earlier this year, state lawmakers passed a new bill to promote student attendance during this year's General Assembly.

Dr. Marty Pollio reflected on his accomplishments and challenges over the past eight years leading Jefferson County Public Schools. 

The district is going from nine start times to three: 7:30 a.m., 8:40 a.m., and 9:40 a.m. at about 40 of its schools.

The board is expected to vote March 26 on whether to cut transportation to traditional and magnet programs, which will impact more than 14,000 students. 

JCPS is expected to have even fewer drivers next school year, exacerbating an issue that has led to a threefold increase in bus delays this school year.

Jefferson County Public Schools could drastically change its transportation plan again next year, and Superintendent Marty Pollio said there are three options on the table.

On Monday, Jan. 15, there is no school because of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
