Though the department plans to have 41 new officers by the end of January, LMPD still has roughly 280 vacancies.

The Louisville Metro Police Department welcomed 13 new officers Friday in a ceremony at Southeast Christian Church.

Louisville Metro Police Chief Paul Humphrey said the next class of recruits will be the largest the department has had in years.
