It didn't take long for Tuesday's heavy rain to flood Plantside Drive and rip it apart. But it could take up to two months to repair it.

Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg joined state and federal officials Thursday to announce assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency is now available for individuals impacted by the recent severe weather.

Louisville officials are urging the public to prepare ahead of what they said could be a top 10 flooding event in the city's history.

At Broad Run Park in southern Jefferson County, Floyds Fork usually meanders through the area, providing a quiet respite for hikers, bikers, kayakers and more.

"I just keep thinking it could've been a whole lot worse."

A portion of River Road near the Belvedere in downtown Louisville is closed due to high water, while a part of Frankfort Avenue is also closed due to mud left behind from the water.

The utility company said some customers that have damage to equipment at their home might be responsible for repairs before power can be restored.

The sound of chainsaws could be heard in many Louisville neighborhoods, as residents and utility workers tried to clear downed trees.

The NWS has confirmed a tornado in Prospect, Kentucky, and Jeffersonville, Indiana. The NWS said it is likely this was one tornado, but that's not confirmed yet.
