According to the Cabinet for Health and Family Services website, both cases have been in children younger than 5 years old with unknown or unvaccinated statuses. 

The measles virus can remain in the air for up to two hours after an infected person leaves an area.

Both Indiana and Kentucky have reported confirmed cases of the measles as vaccination rates in the states remain below national averages.

Health officials are addressing concerns about the measles after a confirmed case was reported in Frankfort.

The adult had recently traveled internationally to an area with ongoing measles transmission.
