Measles, a highly contagious respiratory virus, can cause serious health problems, especially in young children. 

Nationwide, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports there have been more than 1,200 measles cases this year.

This is the first case of measles in Indiana since 2024 when a confirmed case was found in Lake County.

Kentucky and Tennessee health officials are coordinating efforts to evaluate exposures. 

There have not been any confirmed measles cases in Marion County this year.
