A skydiving plane has crashed in northeastern France, killing all 11 people on board. Authorities say the plane suffered a malfunction and fell almost vertically after taking off from the Nancy-Essey airfield Saturday. The dead included five parachuting instructors, five novice jumpers and the pilot. Some of the victims’ families witnessed the aircraft falling. The crash happened on the edge of a built-up area near the airfield. A resident reported hearing the plane's engine stop before the crash. Authorities deployed emergency teams and mental health support. France's transportation minister says it was France’s biggest aviation accident involving skydiving in about 30 years.
