The 2022 shooting death of Omari Cryer by the U.S. Marshals Office during a joint arrest with Louisville police has prompted several allegations of wrongdoing from Louisville’s Metro Inspector General, including making false statements in both a search warrant affidavit and criminal complaint.

The jury — made up of six women and six men, one of whom is Black — are deadlocked on the other charge, whether Taylor's civil rights were violated the night other officers shot and killed her while serving a warrant at her home. 

Hankison believed there was someone with a rifle "executing his friends,” his attorney told jurors. “Brett Hankison did everything he could to try to protect and save his fellow officers."

Defense attorneys have asked for Taylor's cell phone saying it could “correct the record” on whether Taylor was involved in selling drugs or holding money for dealers, in particular a former boyfriend.
