Heavy equipment is moving back and forth across Silver Creek as crews reshape the area for the new bridge. Officials expect a large portion of the bridge to be finished this fall.

More than 20,000 drivers use the Blackiston Mill Bridge each day, a major thoroughfare connecting New Albany and Clarksville.

"I can tell you it's not going to be today. It's not going to be tomorrow. And I don't want to rush anything." 

Town officials initially believed it would remain closed until at least Saturday.
