The dunks are a safe and effective way to control the insects but putting them in standing water, where mosquitoes lay their eggs.

Health officials are warning southern Indiana residents to be cautious after finding mosquitoes that tested positive for West Nile virus in Floyd County. 

The best way to prevent bites is to use DEET and other repellents, wear long sleeves and pants, and if possible, avoid being outside between dusk and dawn, when mosquitoes are most active.
