The JCPS board is expected to vote in the coming days on a plan to build several new schools and renovate dozens more as the district deals with a major budget deficit.

Jefferson County Public Schools plans to close or consolidate five schools next year, with additional closures possible as the district works to reduce costs.

Schools that are under utilized or in disrepair could be closed or consolidated.
