LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Louisville City FC overcame an early deficit to win its Prinx Tires USL Cup opener Saturday at Lynn Family Stadium.
Fort Wayne FC took a 1-0 lead just five minutes into the match, but LouCity scored the equalizer three minutes later. A pair of second-half goals then gave the boys in purple a 3-1 win.
“I thought we were strong in the second half and deserved the win,” LouCity interim head coach Simon Bird said in a news release. “I’m really disappointed in the first half, disappointed in the start. We conceded a really poor goal.”
Next up for LouCity is a trip to Texas to face the Houston Dynamo of Major League Soccer in the U.S. Open Cup Round of 16.
LouCity returns to USL play Saturday at Detroit City FC.
