LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Professional golf is coming back to Louisville's Valhalla Golf Club.

Twenty-four of the world's best women golfers will compete in the 2028 Solheim Cup as Team USA faces Team Europe.

The Solheim Cup is played every two years. This year's event takes place in the Netherlands in early September.

This year's Team USA captain, Angela Stanford, was in Louisville Monday to get a look at Valhalla.

"I've played six times. I was an assistant three times. To get to play for your country — I always said, 'It's the greatest event,' because I spend all my time playing against these women, and now 11 of them are my teammates," Stanford said.

The Solheim Cup marks the LPGA Tour's return to Kentucky for the first time in more than 50 years.

Tickets go on sale after next month's event.
