LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Racing Louisville FC had plenty of opportunities to score Saturday night but couldn't land a single shot in the back of the net.
Racing had 19 shots, 10 on goal, against the Houston Dash on the road but settled for a 0-0 draw.
“You talk about what it takes to create those types of opportunities, the moments of brilliance, the ideas in the moment, and they're putting themselves in incredibly good spots,” Racing coach Bev Yanez said. “I also thought (Campbell) had a few good saves tonight. For us, it's just continuing to test teams. It's (being) ruthless in the final third and putting games away early. I commend the group and I’m very proud of the group for the opportunities that they created. But obviously, I think if we can continue to create opportunities and put opportunities away, we can look to grab three points on the road.”
It was the first shutout of the season for Racing who's now 0-0-2 on the season after surrendering a 2-0 lead last week in the season opener.
Forward Reilyn Turner set a club record with five shots on goal and eight shots in total for the match.
“The opportunities were there,” captain Jaelin Howell said. “A lot of the game, we actually outplayed them. That's the frustrating part. And now it's just converting those (chances), putting it in the back of the net. But obviously it's a good thing (that) it’s frustrating for us, just because we know that we played well.”
Next up for Racing is a matchup on the road Saturday with Portland Thorns FC.
