LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The Kansas City Royals chose former University of Louisville outfielder Zion Rose with the sixth overall pick Saturday in the first round of the MLB Draft.
Rose became the 11th first-round draft selection and the fourth-highest pick in Cardinals history.
He came in his freshman year as a catcher and later moved to the outfield.
Rose mashed at a .417 clip in his junior season in 2026, belting six home runs and 47 RBI, despite playing in only 36 games due to injury.
He earned second-team All-American honors by Perfect Game in 2026 and was a two-time All-ACC selection in his three-year career.
Rose became the 112th MLB draft selection in Dan McDonnell's tenure.
