LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- You can honor those who have served our country by attending the Kentucky Veterans Parade.

WDRB's Keith Kaiser joined some organizers before the event.

This year, the Kentucky Veterans Parade moves from downtown to NuLu and starts at 11 a.m. on Saturday. It will travel along East Market Street from Campbell to Hancock.

After the parade, families are invited to check out the "Touch a Tank" display to see military vehicles up close.

In celebration of the parade's 15th anniversary, community members have nominated veterans for special recognition as part of the "Heroes Among Us" initiative. All the nominated veterans will be invited to participate in the event.

This year's grand marshal is Colonel (Retired) Timothy “Tim” McDonald, CIG, DML. The honor recognizes his distinguished 30-year career in the U.S. Army and his continued service as Kentucky’s State Director of Army Instruction for JROTC.

His leadership now shapes the next generation of military service members across all branches.
