LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The YMCA is offering free clinics to teach families how to be safe around water.
The clinics are being offered in Louisville and southern Indiana from May 16 to May 18.
YMCA's Jaxon Lamb joined WDRB Mornings on Monday with more information on water safety and the clinics.
The point is not only to teach kids how to swim, but also how to react in a water emergency.
"Water safety can save a life whether it's a kid's life, or a friend or family members," Lamb said on WDRB Mornings
The classes will go through the basics of getting in the water and swimming, as well as different models of reacting during a water emergency.
The YMCA asks that you come prepared to be in the water.
