The Northern Lights will be visible again tonight with the same Kp index of 9 just like last night. Last night's G4 (Severe) Geomagnetic Storm Watch was upgraded to a G5 (Extreme). A G5 Geomagnetic Storm Watch has been issued for tonight as well.
Skies will be clear, so get out there with your phones/cameras and get some pics! Using night mode on your phone's camera will get the job done in most places. Just remember that the pictures you have seen online always look more vibrant than what you will actually see in real-time with the naked eye. Best viewing seemed to be between sunset and 11 PM EDT last night, so it might be best to go check it out during that time frame. Looking ahead to Mother's Day, you can't ask for weather much better than this! We'll start the day a bit cool with low 50s and upper 40s across the area. Highs will top out in the upper 70s to 80 degrees with a ton of sunshine and light winds from the west.Â
Rain will likely return Monday. Most places will probably receive a half inch to an inch of rain during the first half of the week from the off-and-on showers/storms. Some places will pick up more than that if they get a few rounds of storms.
