HART COUNTY, Ky. (WDRB) -- Authorities have identified a dismembered body found over the weekend in a tote bag in the Green River.

According to Kentucky State Police, a fisherman found the body of 22-year-old Kristen Edwards of Barren County, Ky., on Saturday morning.

"It takes a cruel mind to do something like that,” said Cameron Kendall, hours after learning the victim was his longtime friend.

Edwards was a mother of two. Her youngest son is not even a year old.

"She never caused any kind of harm or drama. She was never about no trouble. Just a quiet girl. A country girl,” Kendall said.

Kentucky State Police have not released any information about how or when they believe Edwards died. As they piece together the timeline of her last moments, loved ones do the same.

"Last time I talked to her was July 11 or 12. Nothing out of the ordinary to think she was in any kind of harm or nothing,” Kendall said.

Edwards’ family also shared her final Facebook post. It’s dated nearly two weeks ago on July 14 and read, “Somehow I know there’s more to life than this.”

Investigators have not discussed any possible suspects in the killing. There's also no word on a potential motive.

"I wish the person that did it would come forward and you know just do the right thing,” Kendall said.

Officials will not say how long Edwards was dead before her body was found, but her obituary lists her date of death as July 18. If that is accurate, it would mean that her body was in the water for five days before she was discovered.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to call the Kentucky State Police post in Bowling Green.
