LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Culinary students at Western High School had some help in the kitchen Thursday.

High-profile chef and owner of SuperChef's Restaurant, Darnell Ferguson, spoke to classes about pursuing a dream after graduation, even if it's not in the kitchen.

He encouraged the students to do their best at whatever job they're doing -- whether that's a dish washer or a head chef.

"I hope they'll do better in class and that they understand life isn't always a game with things and that they'll take it and pick up on it and like do better in the kitchen and really try and like focus on it if they really want to gear towards culinary," said 10th grader Jacey Williams.

Western is the only school in the district with a culinary program.
